Treachery in Death by J.D Robb

Here we start off on a new experience…… Detective Peabody is the Primary on her first case. We watch Peabody (who we all love!) work her way through a murder of a store owner who was defending his wife in a robbery. Eve watches as the detective she has trained shows how she works through a case while Eve takes notes.  Peabody after a long day of working on the street goes to the gym to work out and while in the showers hears two corrupt cops’ talking about a murder and ten thousand dollars….. Peabody confides in the only person she truly trusts, Eve.

We watch Eve and Peabody try to deal with this situation, which is extremely difficult to both of them. Eve is furious with how fellow officers are using their positions to gain money and power. She has to take chances with other lives she would rather not take, dig through pass cases to find errors and even to find out if these people have killed their fellow cops.

By the end of this book we see a whole new side of Eve that has never been allowed to show. We see how one person who wanted more destroyed so many lives in the process. This is a different read for any person who loves J.D Robb! My favorite of the series to date!!!! I hope everyone enjoys seeing the new sides of our favorite characters as I have!!

Book Summary via http://jdrobb.com/index.html

Detective Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a senseless crime-an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. This is Peabody’s first case as primary detective-good thing she learned from the master.
But Peabody soon stumbles upon a trickier situation. After a hard workout, she’s all alone in the locker room when the gym door clatters open; and-while hiding inside a shower stall trying not to make a sound-she overhears two fellow officers, Garnet and Oberman, arguing. It doesn’t take long to realize they’re both crooked-guilty not just of corruption but of murder. Now Peabody, Eve, and Eve’s husband, Roarke, are trying to get the hard evidence they need to bring the dirty cops down-knowing all the while that the two are willing to kill to keep their secret.
