Return to Nuji (The Nujian Prophecy) By S.R. Kross

A very addicting and creative read, the author is very good at detailing everything so you feel like you are right there in the story. Once the plot unfolds you stay on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next. There are some sad parts in the story that can make you cry but there are some funny parts to make the sad worth reading. The author makes you ache for Delilah with how her life is in the beginning. I can not wait to see what Ms.Kross has in story for book two. A great book detailing how one girl is more than she ever dreamed she would be.

Delilah is a 17 year old girl who has to deal with the bad life that destiny served her. She never felt like she fit in and lives in an abusive home. One day Delilah realizes that she is more than what she thought and goes on an adventure to discover her true self and all that she can truly do.

Night Blade, Book #2-excerpt

Dunno where you are or when you’ll get this message, but I’m looking for you and I need to talk to you.  I have a job for you and you kind of have to take it.”

I made a face.  Justin was a Banner cop now.   They’d seduced him with the promises of You get to kill things and we’ll give you lots of weapons.  He liked weapons almost as much as I did.  And he liked killing things…well, when they needed killing.  Justin was like a loaded gun, a good weapon and he was most efficient when he had a target.

“Call me, set up a time, Kitty-kitty. Don’t make me track you down, okay?  You really do have to take this job…trust me.”

I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck.

Trust him.  That was a problem.  I did trust Justin.  There weren’t a lot of people I was willing to say that about but he was definitely one of them.

The message ended and I sat there, staring at nothing.

I trusted him, but I sure as hell didn’t want to take any job that he might have to offer.

Jobs and Justin meant one thing.  A connection to the Banner unit.  The Banner units were exterminators.  Non-human exterminators.   Banner cops, slang for the Bureau of American Non-Human Affairs–were basically men and women like Justin, highly skilled, very deadly human who went out and eliminated the NHs who had been deemed too deadly to live.  Generally, they didn’t get to play much because us non-humans patrolled our own.  That was the job the packs, the clans, the order of witches and the Assembly in general.  But sometimes there were those who slipped past the ever-watchful eyes of the Assembly.

Sometimes there were those the Assembly turned a blind eye to and the Banner cops stepped up to the plate.

If Justin was calling me, it was entirely likely that he wanted my help in tracking somebody down.

Damn it all to hell.

Baked Potato fans

Ok so I found this on pinterest one day and made some adjustments to how to do this an easier way. A great way to make a potato look fancy and wow your guests.

Pre heat oven to 450

Scrub potato clean

With a sharp knife (which ever size you like hehe) make slices almost through the whole potato going width NOT length.

I found it easier to leave some of the sides on and go along the inside to make a pocket.

baste whole potato in Olive Oil then sprinkle Salt and pepper.

Place in oven on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 40-60 minutes.

when finished baking let cool and then slide butter into slices and whatever other toppings you like.

Blood and Snow series 1-11 by RaShella Workman (teen series)

This is a series based on short stories. Edgy, interesting, good story line. Based on a teenage girl that becomes a vampire and has to face a bunch of hard decisions in her life to come. It is a refreshing teen novel that isn’t totally sappy. Keeps you wondering what will happen next.

The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur by Mike Michalowicz

Witty, up beat, informative. There are three descriptions I would easily say about this book. While doing my job hunting I picked this up to help me out and found it very informative. The guy uses humor to keep it upbeat and interesting. Uses real life situations to get point across and to help you know what to expect.

Chicken Taco Soup via Crock-pot.

Ok so its winter, winter means cold, cold means no grill, no grill means stuck inside, stuck inside means………ok cutting it short, it all leads to the crock-pot. I wait all year long for it to start getting cold (hehe which means 65 degrees) to start cooking in my crock-pot. The Crock-pot has saved my life so many times when I forgot to take something our before bed to thaw and ended up thinking “what now?”. Throw some stuff in the crock pot and  you have a meal!!!! This recipe is all about tossing everything in and then letting it sit. I didn’t figure you would want pictures of me opening cans so I am just going to lay it all out. I don’t like beans as a rule but in this I eat them! I hope you enjoy!

One Onion chopped (I use sweet but white works also)

One can of Chili Beans 15oz (I use mild and drain them well)

One can of Black Beans 15oz(Drained well)

15oz of corn ( I like to use frozen so less chemicals)

One can of Tomatoes with diced chilies (Rot-le)

One Can of tomato sauce 8oz

One bottle of good beer (if you wouldn’t drink it don’t cook with it- Use a darker beer for more flavor)

One packet of taco seasoning

1/2 cup of chicken broth (low sodium because you can add more salt later if you want)

Three Chicken breasts skinless and boneless (if you can dice it up before that works if not dice it up later)

Shredded cheese

sour cream

Tortilla chips or fritos

Step one: Open all your cans and pour them in to the crock-pot. Then stir them up

Step two: Pour in chicken broth. Open beer (take a sip to make sure its good) and pour it in the crock-pot. Sprinkle in Taco seasoning and stir again.

Step Three: If you can dice up chicken breast, then add to crock-pot. If they are frozen press them into the mixture until covered.

Step four: Ok here is where you have two options… If you diced you chicken up then set your crock-pot on low for 7hrs. If the chicken in whole and frozen then set it on high for four hours then turn it to low for the remaining three. If you can turn it down thats fine also. When chicken is cooked through remove it and let it sit for 10mins (its too hot to handle). Then proceed to dice it into bite size pieces and add back to pot on low for 30 mins (this lets the meat absorb more flavor).

Step five: Put soup in bowl—add cheese, sour cream, chips and enjoy!!!
